Sara Jane Rutz

Creative Collaborator

Sara Jane Rutz lives, practices, and grows in Richmond, Virginia, her home state. Sara Jane has been a Massage Therapist for 12 years. In addition, she practices Cupping Therapy and Reiki. She holds a Bachelor in Science Degree for Health, Physical Education and Exercise Science from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Plant Based Nutrition Certification from Cornell University.

Having grown up in the mountains she was always drawn to the Earth and the abundant natural beauty it offered. As a result, she has been an avid gardener for 15 years. She started her first garden the summer after her first child was born. She wanted her children to know where their food comes from, how to grow food, and how to cook and preserve what they grow. She also wanted to create a beautiful sanctuary for her family, surrounded by flowers, birds, and bees.

In 2017 Sara Jane began teaching nutrition and cooking classes for a girls summer camp. Since then she has developed “Edible Schoolyard” curriculum for multiple nonprofit organizations and takes every opportunity to teach that she can. She also does outreach for local nonprofit, Vegan Action.

When Sara Jane is not working, she can likely be found in her garden or greenhouse, or in the kitchen cooking and baking for her family. She has been blessed with a large family and her favorite place is home.

Ultimately, Sara Jane loves to talk about and educate folks on how to be healthier personally, and how to help heal the Earth and be a friend to all living creatures. She truly believes that having a mutually beneficial relationship with the Earth is the most important thing we can do.
