Brendan Kennedy

Co-Creative Collaborator for FreeHorse Arts LIVE

Brendan is a Richmond native and a graduate of Shenandoah Conservatory, where he earned his BFA in Musical Theatre. After graduation he moved to New York City and spent several years performing both in New York and around the country in various productions. Brendan grew to become more interested in the aspects of theatre beyond the stage. From production to directing to teaching Brendan fell in love with each and every dimension of the performing arts experience. This love led Brendan back to VA and the School for the Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC), where he spent the next 10 years honing his performing arts education side. At SPARC Brendan taught classes, directed productions and camps, helped manage and create programming throughout the organization, including having the opportunity to direct LiveArt, SPARC’s premiere annual production. Brendan sees the arts as more than just a career or a hobby, but rather a way of life. Connection, truth, and vulnerability make great humans and compelling storytelling, and he looks forward to helping youth continue to tell their most authentic story.
